Advertising Space Notice – Midcentury Display Type with Asterisk Row

This Midcentury advertisement is a call for advertisers, with This Space Interests You! set in bold condensed letters above a row of four asterisks. Below it, an italic line reading for Advertising Rates leads into small caps Apply To and the name J. W. Courtenay Ltd., which ends with a 12 Norfolk Street, London, W.C.2 address. The mix of condensed sans, italic and wide capitals in black on pale green makes a handy typography reference for English display type. It’s cut out on a transparent background, so it drops easily into a zine spread as a cheeky placeholder ad.
