Child’s Bus Ticket – Midcentury Lavender Penny Fare with Out and In Columns

A lavender child’s bus ticket from the Burton-upon-Trent Corporation Transport Dept, with a bold 1d fare and serial number GW 1320 across the top. The layout is simple and satisfying: two columns of numbered stages, 1 to 8, marked OUT and IN, separated by a narrow center panel of small vertical type saying it must be punched in front of the passenger and is not transferable. Along the bottom edge you can read the printer’s line, Auto-Tickets Ltd, Birkenhead, a nice detail for anyone who loves English ephemera and Midcentury typography. It comes cut out on a transparent background, so it drops cleanly into a mixed media collage.
